Camoplast Inc. — a Sherbrooke, Que.-based manufacturer of rubber tracks, traction systems and tracked vehicles — announced the official opening of the Camoplast Technical Centre (CTC) on November 19.

The centre is located in the city of Magog’s industrial park. Camoplast invested $9 million in new infrastructure and specialized equipment, in order to make the company more competitive globally.

According to the company, the CTC consolidates Track Systems’ and Thermoplastic’s R&D centre, materials laboratory and product testing facilities under one roof.

“Our customers will continue to benefit from the best equipment and product design tools in the industry, world class systems and processes and our unparalleled team of technical experts,” said the company.

In March the company received an interest-free loan of $1.9 million for the project from Investissement Quebec. At the time, the company said the new centre would lead to the creation of 35 research positions and have spin-offs for the plants in Granby and Richmond.
