Resin supplier Borealis AG has selected Mark Garrett as its CEO designate.

Resin supplier Borealis AG has selected Mark Garrett as its CEO designate.
Garrett will replace current CEO and chairman of the board John Taylor, who plans to retire at the end of 2007.
Garret comes to Borealis from resin supplier Ciba Specialty Chemicals, where he was executive vice president, water and paper treatment.
In order to ensure a smooth transition, Garrett is joining Borealis at its corporate headquarters in Vienna, Austria, effective April 1.
“Over the past six years, John Taylor has led a highly successful transformation of Borealis,” Gerhard Roiss, chairman of the Borealis supervisory board, said. “With Mark Garrett joining us, we are now well positioned to continue the pursuit of our ‘Value Creation through Innovation’ strategy, along with our Borouge joint venture in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.”
The joint venture between Borealis and Abu Dhabi-based polyolefin supplier Borouge was established in December 2001. Based out of Borouge’s production facility in Ruwais, Abu Dhabi, the operation has produced a total of approximately 2.3 million tons of polyethylene (PE) to date.
