The Mississauga, Ont.-based Bhler-Uddeholm Thermo-Tech has added a new high-pressure quench (HPQ) vacuum heat treatment furnace to improve turnaround time associated with processing of tool Steel, enabling it to better service its customers in the mold, tool, and die-making industries.
Bhler-Uddeholm Thermo-Tech, is a Division of Bhler-Uddeholm Ltd., which processes tools to optimal properties for improved performance.
Since this requires specialized and controlled processing parameters of temperature and time, and with the continuing demands within the industry to improve tooling performance as well increased pressures to reduce lead times, the addition of this new capacity will allow Bhler-Uddeholm Thermo-Tech to better meet these demands, the company said.
The new HPQ will operate alongside Bhler-Uddeholm Thermo-Tech’s two-, five- and 10-bar Turbo Treater Furnaces along with Atmosphere and Vacuum Tempering furnaces.
Bhler-Uddeholm Thermo-Tech’s capabilities include Cryotherm (cryogenics processing), along with Thermonite (ferritic nitro-carburizing), a surface enhancement process.
Bhler-Uddeholm Thermo-Tech also operates a metallurgical laboratory, staffed with accredited metallurgists capable of providing technical support along with tooling related applications.
