Auto supplier posts record sales

Decoma International Inc., the Concord, ON-based company specializing in automotive exterior components and assemblies with a high percentage of plastic content, has reported record sales in the second quarter of 2002 as a result of higher-than-projected automotive production. For the quarter, the company had sales of $565.8 million (U.S.), up from $485.4 million in the same period a year ago. Profit on sales was $27.4 million, compared with $23.1 million last year.
The company was helped by a 7% increase in North American auto production. Additionally, the company’s content per vehicle rose 13% in North America in the second quarter, and 12% in Europe.
