Associated Packaging Technologies (APT) has announced plans to expand its Cambridge, Ont. thermoforming plant.

Associated Packaging Technologies (APT) has announced plans to expand its Cambridge, Ont. thermoforming plant.

The Chadds Ford, Pa.-based company said the multimillion dollar investment, designed to meet surging demand, will boost capacity for polypropylene trays and will introduce production of technologically advanced multi-layer trays with an oxygen barrier.

“We see significant opportunity for growth in trays for shelf-stable entrees, refrigerated, and prepared foods,” APT CEO Mark Staton said in a news release. “We will be expanding upon our existing polypropylene and barrier capabilities, and incorporating those into our proprietary rotary thermoforming technology. The expansion will provide an additional avenue for growth and is eventually expected to generate additional employment in our Cambridge plant.”
