New COO for PolyOne

Resin compounder and distributor PolyOne Corporation has made two changes at the executive level.

The Avon Lake, Ohio-based company has named Robert M. Patterson to the post of executive vice president and chief operating officer, or COO, effective immediately; also, Richard J. Diemer has joined the company as senior vice president and chief financial officer.

According to PolyOne, the 39-year old Patterson will have primary responsibility for developing and executing the company’s annual operating plans and strategic plans to drive growth in revenue, gross margin and operating income. Patterson will have accountability for the success of PolyOne’s four business segments, and each segment president will report to him.

“I’m extremely pleased that Bob will be leading our businesses as COO. He has the business acumen and leadership qualities that will make him successful in this new position,” said Stephen D. Newlin, PolyOne’s chairman, president and CEO said in a statement.
