In a move to expand demand for its Mucell microcellular foaming technology, Trexel Inc. has established a Chinese subsidiary in Shenzhen, with plans underway to open an additional satellite office in Shanghai.

Trexel (Shenzen) Technology Co., Ltd. will support Trexel’s operations in the Chinese market with a processing/engineering team, sales support personnel, technical and repair services as well as spare parts logistics. As part of the new subsidiary, an additional branch office, including development centre, is being established in Shanghai to support domestic and international automotive OEMs and Tier One suppliers.

“The interest and the adoption of state of the art processing technologies such as the MuCell process are rapidly gaining in significance, not only with global companies operating inside China but also with Chinese-owned companies,” said Steve Braig, president and CEO of the Wilmington, Mass.-based company.

Trexel has been active in Southeast Asia and China for close to 10 years, Braig said. “However, our Chinese customers have had to deal with Trexel Inc., as we did not have the appropriate business structure to conduct business transactions within China. We have now addressed that issue,” he added.
