In the first phase of a US$3 million investment, polymer supplier PolyOne Corporation has opened a new innovation centre at its Avon Lake, Ohio headquarters, designed to support application development, testing, process optimization and color matching research.

According to PolyOne, the centre includes three extruders with multiple pelletization and feeding options, and three injection molding machines.

“While the centre will also add new capabilities for long-term product-related research and process development and enhance technical collaboration between PolyOne business units, its most important purpose is to support collaboration with customers,” said Stephen D. Newlin, PolyOne chairman, president and CEO. “The innovation centre bridges the gap between concept and commercialization for our customers, and enables them to cut development time while boosting their profitability.”
