Microcellular foaming technology developer Trexel Inc. is now providing German injection press maker Arburg with its MuCell supercritical foam (SCF) gas dosing hardware, allowing customers to purchase a turnkey MuCell injection molding machine directly from Arburg.

Under the terms of the new agreement between the two companies, no separate license agreements or license costs are necessary. The rights to practice Trexel’s extensive patent portfolio are automatically transferred with purchase of MuCell hardware, the companies said, regardless of whether the equipment was bought through Arburg or directly from Trexel.

“Arburg’s application engineering team has been supporting MuCell applications for their customers for a long time,” said Steve Braig, president and CEO of Woburn, Mass.-based Trexel. “This new agreement makes it easier for both our companies to better serve and be more responsive to the needs of our customers globally. Our customers enjoy the benefit of obtaining a turnkey solution from a single source supplier.”

Trexel executed a similar reselling agreement with German injection molding machine supplier Krauss Maffei last year.
