The Plastics Industry Association has hired association veteran Scott DeFife to serve as its vice president of government affairs.

Scott DeFife.

DeFife will lead federal, state and regulatory affairs, oversee advocacy and serve as the staff liaison to the Public Policy Committee, the Washington, D.C.-based association announced in a press release.

DeFife previously led policy and government affairs for the National Restaurant Association. Prior to that, he was the senior managing director at the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association where he managed federal and state legislative and lobbying efforts.

DeFife’s “impressive experience in the association industry and on the hill makes him uniquely positioned to lead our Government Affairs team and help the plastics industry in achieving our goals of producing innovative and safe products, sustainably managing materials and ensuring a safe environment for our workforce,” said the Plastic Industry Association’s executive vice president Patty Long.
