Austria-based injection press maker Engel has teamed up with French mold manufacturer Plastisud SA to offer turnkey solutions for the production of sealing caps for water and soft drink containers in China.

Under the name Green Cap, the joint venture will supply presses in clamping forces from 200 tons to 420 tons, with 500 ton presses available as an option. Molds will come in 32 cavities and 96 cavities as standard.

“The Chinese market is very demanding [and] Chinese customers request nothing but the best,” said Walter J. Jungwirth, Engel Austria’s director of new business development. “Green Cap is the best way for us to address this trend. We are offering maximum output and quality while optimising the cost structure for our customers.”

Engel, headquartered in Schwertberg, has an assembly plant in Shanghai, China, and also runs three sales and services offices in that country. Plastisud opened a sales office in Shanghai in 2010. Green Cap will be based out of Engel’s Shanghai facility.
