CTMA appoints new executive director

Les Payne, the longtime executive director of the Canadian Tooling & Machining Association (CTMA), is stepping down, to be replaced by Robert Cattle.

Cattle has been part-owner of Markham, Ont.-based custom machine shop Micrometric Ltd. for almost 40 years; over the past decade he has also served on the CTMA’s Board of Directors as Toronto Chapter chair, vice-president, president, and past-president.

Payne, who is retiring from the industry, has served with CTMA for over 30 years, as a volunteer director, president (2002-04), and executive director.

“Robert’s industry knowledge and experience as a director of CTMA provides him with invaluable knowhow,” said CTMA president David Glover. “I have no doubt that, with Robert at the helm, the association will expand its national presence and flourish.”

Headquartered in Cambridge, Ont., the CTMA is a non-profit trade association that represents and promotes the interests of the Canadian tooling and machining industry.
