Automation supplier is opening a new office in Halifax.

Automation supplier ABB Inc. is expanding its business in Atlantic Canada by opening a new office in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

In a statement, ABB said that the new Halifax office will provide engineering and project management services for ABB’s strategic participation in Emera’s Maritime Link Project, a power infrastructure project that will connect renewable electricity generated in Newfoundland and Labrador with Nova Scotia.

ABB’s other activities in Atlantic Canada consist mainly of providing automation solutions to customers in a number of industry sectors such as utilities, oil and gas, pulp and paper, marine, power, and food and beverages.

“ABB is proud to be part of the economic growth of Atlantic Canada,” said Nathalie Pilon, ABB’s president and CEO for its Canada operations. “With offices in Saint John, New Brunswick; Dartmouth and Lunenburg, Nova Scotia; and St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, we are continuing to grow our presence in the region and look forward to contributing to providing growth and employment opportunities here.”
