Simcoe Plastics takes on new bioplastics line in Ontario

Resin supplier Simcoe Plastics Ltd. is the new Ontario sales agent for SPB Bio Materials’ “Ekstend” line of bio-mass filled plastic compounds.

Simcoe Plastics is headquartered in Shanty Bay, Ont.

Peterborough, Ont.-based SPB Bio Materials’ Ekstend compounds are polypropylene and polyethylene master batches made with 50 per cent renewable bio-based content. SPB Bio Materials is a biomaterials venture founded by SPB Solutions, a Quebec-based food and agricultural by-products recovery and collection firm.

“Ekstend is a high-performance product, locally manufactured and done with an eye toward green and sustainable manufacturing,” said Simcoe Plastics president Kurt Stahle. “Offering Ekstend to our customers, who share concerns about the environmental impact of manufacturing, allows Simcoe Plastics to cater to a new and highly relevant set of marketplace needs.”
