The expansion will create up to 15 new positions in manufacturing, management, sales and marketing, Polykar said in a news release, and will also enable the company to achieve what it calls “four key objectives”: increase its production capacity, improve productivity in manufacturing its core product line – garbage bags – especially certified compostable bags, invest in recycling technologies to broaden its range of post-industrial and post-commercial films and bag sources; and invest in co-extrusion technology for more complex films with higher performance and tighter tolerances.

“We are confident that this significant investment after 27 years, will position Polykar to remain a market leader in its core business, while making an important foray into the packaging sector,” Polykar president Elyse Damdjee said.

Polykar and sells its products to distributors of sanitation products, food products and packaging across Canada. The company is a supplier to major buying groups that include Adapt, Balpex, Colabor, Dissan, Itwal and Wood Wyant.
