Husky Injection Molding Systems is making changes to its global organization, creating a new combined business unit dedicated to medical and specialty packaging; the company has also announced the retirement of long-time veteran Michael Urquhart.

The creation of the combined business unit follows Bolton, Ont.-based Husky’s acquisition of medical and closure mold maker Schöttli Group in November 2013. Steve Lawrynuik, formerly vice president, customer support, will lead this new area of the business as vice president, medical and packaging systems, Husky said in a statement. “This new business unit will bring together Schöttli technology, the capabilities of Husky’s specialty mold making facilities in Austria and the Czech Republic, aftermarket tooling and services, as well as the Hylectric system platform,” Husky said.

Urquhart, Husky’s vice president global sales, packaging systems, leaves the company at the end of February after 33 years with Husky, during which time he has held a number of leadership positions throughout the company’s operations, marketing and sales organizations. “I would like to thank Michael for his dedication and numerous contributions to Husky over these many years. He has helped to grow and shape the company and the legacy of his contributions will be felt long after his departure,” John Galt, Husky’s president and CEO, said in the statement. “I wish Michael well in his retirement, while also congratulating Steve on his new role.”
