Additive manufacturing using laser metal deposition is an emerging discipline that can improve mold, tool and diemakers’ manufacturing processes, and the Canadian Tooling & Machining Association (CTMA) is teaming up with the National Research Council Canada (NRC) to present a one-day technical seminar on advanced laser application processes.
The seminar takes place at the NRC’s headquarters at 800 Collip Circle, in London, Ont., on Wednesday, Oct. 17. The event runs from 9:30am to 4:00pm; fees are $50 for members of CTMA, CAMM, APMA and the CME, and $75 for non-members.
“Laser experts from NRC and business will show how industry can best use the NRC resources in the hardfacing of tool steels for the tool, die and mold making industry with ultra-hard, high quality surfaces for the blanking, forming and drawing of advanced hot steel or high strength steels by demonstrating the machine and modeling software to solve today’s toughest challenges,” the CTMA said. “This workshop is appropriate for owners, tool suppliers, material suppliers, tool die and mold designers, engineers of all levels and manufacturing decision-makers who are interested in learning more about NRC’s additive manufacturing laser metal deposition and how it can be used.”
