Bag maker Hilex bought by Wind Point Partners

Hilex Poly Co LLC, described as the largest plastic bag manufacturer in North America, has been acquired by Chicago-based private equity firm Wind Point Partners.

The terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Headquartered in Hartsville, S.C., Hilex makes a variety of bags and films for grocery, retail and good service operations, including bags with post-consumer recycled resin.

“Hilex is a clear market leader with a strong management team, high quality products and excellent customer service,” said Michael Nelson, a managing director at Wind Point. “[We have] developed a clear value creation plan to accelerate growth by introducing new products and completing complementary acquistions.”
