PolyOne plans to add capacity at its plant in Greenville, Ohio

In an August 18 statement, Avon Lake, Ohio-based PolyOne said the closure – which began on Aug. 18 – is part of its plan to integrate the assets of the former Spartech business. In June 2013, PolyOne paid US$393 million for Spartech, a major producer of plastic sheet as well as color and additive compounds based in Clayton, Mo.

“Our latest actions provide a more streamlined and sustainable manufacturing footprint from which we can better serve our customers,” Robert M. Patterson, PolyOne’s president and CEO, said in the statement.
