Nexeo buys Mexican distribution firm Ultra Chem

Chemical and plastics distributor Nexeo Solutions Inc. has acquired the Mexico-based specialty chemicals distribution business of Ultra Chem S de RL de CV.

The terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Headquartered in Mexico City, Ultra Chem represents major global producers in Mexico and Latin America, and has what Nexeo describes as a “leading position” in specialty chemicals in the region. Ultra Chem distributes PC, ABS, and SAN resins; plastic additives such as PVC stabilizers, antioxidants, and foaming agents; and a range of specialty chemicals.

“[The purchase] expands our overall specialty mix and extends our chemical reach into Mexico,” Nexeo president and CEO David Bradley said in a news release. “Ultra Chem is a strong cultural fit with complementary end markets and current margins that are immediately accretive.”

The deal is expected to close during the second quarter of 2017.

The Ultra Chem purchase comes on the heels of Nexeo’s February 2017 acquisition of the DSM NV business of German resin distributor K.D. Feddersen Norden AB.

Headquartered in Woodlands, Tex., Nexeo distributes resins, compounds, and concentrates for suppliers such as ExxonMobil Chemical and LyondellBasell Industries.
