Quebec’s biggest post-consumer plastics recycler has ceased operations and asked for bankruptcy protection.
Beauceville, Que.-based Recyc RPM has laid off all 90 of its employees. The company has recycling plants in Beauceville and St. Damien, Que.
According to a news report by Quebec’s La Presse news agency, Recyc is in the process of submitting a proposal to its creditors. The company owes nearly $20 million, La Presse said.
The annual production capacity of the two plants is more than 65 million pounds of recycled plastic.
Recyc was founded in 1989 by brothers Louis and Luc Métivier.
