In response to North America’s growing demand for all-electric injection molding machinery, Sumitomo Plastics Machinery in Norcross, Ga., has restructured its sales team, including appointing a new Canadian sales manager, to better support its all-electric customers.
“The overall market for injection molding machinery in North America surpassed a 40-60 split in 2006,” Masanobu Sakurai, president of Sumitomo, said in a statement. “The expansion and restructuring of our organization will allow us to better meet the needs of both our existing and our new customers through this period of growth.”
Sumitomo has bolstered its sales team to include two vice-presidents of sales one for the east and one for the west five regional sales managers, and inside technical sales staff and 19 sales territories covered by representatives.
Jim Mitchell has been promoted to vice-president of sales, western region; his responsibilities will include managing sales for all of Canada. Newmarket, Ont.-based Plastics Machinery Inc. is Sumitomo’s Canadian distributor.
Sumitomo also plans to add a sixth regional sales manager and to open three new regional offices: Two in the mid-western U.S. and one on the US. west coast.
