In a bid to expand its industrial polyethylene film business, Sigma Plastics Group has acquired Southern Film Extruders, Inc., a manufacturer of polyethylene films.
The terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
In an October 3 news release, Sigma Plastics chairman and CEO Alfred Teo said that High Point, N.C.-based Southern “is a well-established, reputable company that complements our industrial film expansion strategy.”
With 175 employees, High Point, N.C.-based Southern Film Extruders generated sales of US$70 million in 2012. The company filed for bankruptcy earlier this year.
Lyndhurst, J.J.-based Sigma Plastics is a manufacturer of extruded polyethylene
film and bags. The company describes itself as North America’s largest privately held film manufacturer.
