Que. molder Precimold invests in clean rooms

Candiac, Que.-based custom injection molder Precimold Inc. has installed two Class 100,000 portable clean rooms for the production of components, and a 400 square foot Class 10,000 clean room for assembly, decorating and special packaging.

According to the company, a total investment of $200,000 was made on new machinery and equipment, allowing the company to better serve the growing needs of their medical, pharmaceutical, dental and biotechnology clients.

The two Class 100,000 clean rooms will allow the company to manufacture components within a ISO Class 8 controlled environment on a wide tonnage range of their existing injection molding machines, from 7 tons up to 300 tons.

As well, within the Class 10,000 clean room, Precimold has begun several pharmaceutical and diagnostic assembly contracts, where an ISO Class 7 controlled environment has been specified by the clients. Specialty decorating and packaging operations will be certified to start production in the near future.

All operations are overseen by the company’s Q.A. department, using ISO 9001:2000 certified procedures, following GMP, and complying to ISO 13485 and ISO 16949 norms. ISO 14001 ceritification is planned for 2009.
