Plastics executive and organization volunteer Paul Clark was honoured by the Canadian section of the Society of Chemical Industry (SCI) at a gala industry dinner in Toronto on March 4.

Before a packed room, Serge Lavoie, president and CEO of the Canadian Plastics Industry Association (CPIA) presented Clark with the Purvis Memorial Award. The award honouring the memory of Arthur Blaikie Purvis, a leader in the Canadian chemical industry in the 1920s and 1930s recognizes major contribution to development and implementation of strategies resulting in the strengthening of Canadian industry in the field of chemistry.

The recently retired Clark enjoyed a diverse career in the chemical industry in Canada. For years the vice president of research and technology at Calgary, Alta.-based Nova Chemicals Corporation, Clark was also a past chairman of the CPIA; a board member of the Alberta Research and Technology Authority, and of the National Research Council of Canada; chairman of the Innovation Management Association of Canada; a member of the University of Waterloo Advisory Council; and, more recently, president of VisionGain Consulting Inc.

Last year, Clark was also honoured with a CanPlast Award by the CPIA.
