Ontario partnering with North Star Windows & Doors in St. Thomas

Ontario-based vinyl windows and doors manufacturer North Star Windows & Doors is making a major investment to expand and purchase new processing equipment.

Located south of London in St. Thomas, Ont., North Star plans to invest $10 million with the help of a $1.2 million conditional grant from the Ontario government’s Southwestern Ontario Development Fund.

The project will almost double the company’s workforce.

“The investment…will help us purchase innovative manufacturing equipment and also give us the extra manufacturing space we need to meet growing demand, and expand our business both locally and internationally,” Ron Cauchi, the company’s CEO, said.

Currently shipping about $3 million worth of merchandise abroad, the company aims to boost that figure by two-thirds, to more than $5 million by the end of project.

The expansion will create 140 new jobs.

North Star plans to complete the project by the end of 2019.
