Negri Bossi, Spirex ink technology agreement

Injection molding machine OEM Negri Bossi and Spirex Corporation, worldwide licensor of Twinshot coinjection technology, have reached an agreement to offer multi-material molding systems on all new Negri Bossi injection molding machines. The Twinshot process allows a molder to use a conventional machine with a single screw and barrel to inject two materials in one operation. Plasticizing occurs on the single screw with a two-stage design; starve-feeding controls the ratio of materials in one or both of the screw stages.
“It (Twinshot) allows the molder to simplify their coinejction equipment requirements, eliminate the need for additional space and reduce the cost of manufacturing,” says Larry Pascucci, general manager at Negri Bossi’s Mississauga sales and service facility.
In addition to the Twinshot system, usually consisting of a screw, barrel and other custom components, Negri Bossi will offer other Spirex plasticizing systems and components on its machines for special applications.
