Plast-Ex exhibitor and blown film equipment manufacturer, Lung-Meng Machinery, is featuring, via a video presentation at its booth, a five-layer blown film line, a market in which the company is seeing signs of positive growth in North America. According to Allen Tsai, Lung-Meng general manager, the company has already sold over US$4 million of machinery in North America this year, equal to its total amount of revenues in North America for the entirety of 2003.
According to Tsai, the company’s blown-film lines cost 40% to 50% less than most European-made equipment with comparable performance. The Taiwan-based firm purchases components globally to achieve lower costs. It buys screws, barrels and gear boxes in Italy, dies and air rings in Canada and performs final assembly in Taiwan. "We’ve been through a downturn over the last few years, but we’re seeing the market picking up, especially for multi-layer lines," said Tsai.
