Haremar to manufacture barrier packaging

Multi-layer film manufacturer Haremar Plastic Manufacturing Ltd., of Vaughan, Ont., is expanding into barrier packaging with the purchase of a 5-layer conventional blown film line from Brampton Engineering Inc.

The new line, Haremars first 5-layer barrier application, will include Brampton Engineerings SCD die and I-Flex heated lip for gauge control, the Eliminator air ring, antiblock internal bubble control, and two single turret winders with Brampton Engineerings automatic roll handling system.

With the SCD die we will be able to maximize the properties of the various types of resins we use, while isolating each layer for superior performance, said Mark Lichtblau, vice president of Haremar. We selected BE based upon their demonstrated ability to produce quality film lines at high output rates.

We are pleased to see another Canadian company taking blown film to a higher level. The film from this line will open significant new markets for Haremar, said Bud Smith, president and CEO of Brampton Engineering.
