CPIA names trade association veteran Carol Hochu as new president and CEO

The Canadian Plastics Industry Association (CPIA) will have a new leader in 2012.

Effective January 2, Carol Hochu will become the Toronto-based trade organization’s new president and CEO.  

Hochu’s background is in trade association and industry group management. She currently serves as the executive director of Ontario Electronic Stewardship, a not-for-profit industry funding organization charged with implementing a province-wide electronic waste diversion program. Her previous positions include president of the Ontario Stone, Sand & Gravel Association and the Confectionery Manufacturers Association of Canada.

“Carol’s skills and experience will help drive one of our highest priorities, which is to recover plastic resources that are currently going to landfills across Canada,” said Paul Cohen, chairman of the CPIA’s Board of Directors.

Greg Wilkinson, the interim leader of the CPIA for the past 10 months, will return to his energy, chemicals and plastics consultancy, Third Oak Associates Inc.  “The CPIA is fortunate to have found a leader of Carol Hochu’s calibre and I’m confident that between Carol, CPIA staff and our Board, the important work of the association is in very good hands,” Wilkinson said in a statement.
