Vanga Products Inc., a Canadian manufacturer of high-density polyethylene and polyethylene terephthalate bottles and jars for the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industries, has been purchased by U.S.-based competitor Alpha Packaging.
The terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
Alpha Packaging, headquartered in St. Louis, Mo., makes HDPE and PET bottles and jars for customers in the nutritional, pharmaceutical, personal care, household chemical and food and beverage industries. According to Alpha Packaging, the purchase is designed to expand its reach in the Pacific Northwest. With the addition of Vanga, Alpha Packaging now has eight manufacturing facilities in North America and Europe.
Surrey, B.C.-based Vanga has approximately 60 employees and operates 23 blow molding machines in a 60,000-square-foot manufacturing and warehouse facility. In a move related to the sale, the company’s founder, Gerry VanGaalen, is retiring.
