Scotia Recycling Ltd. is buying the assets of Nova Recycling, based in St. John’s, NF. The purchase, which was closed today, includes the cardboard and plastic bottle bailing equipment of Nova’s five Newfoundland facilities, as well as grinding and pelletizing equipment at Nova’s Stephenville, NF plant. According to Darren Welner, Scotia Recycling sales and marketing manager, Scotia will assume Nova’s contracts with Newfoundland’s Multi-Stewardship Recycling Board. Welner declined to discuss terms of the purchase. Scotia, based in Dartmouth, NS, is one of Atlantic Canada’s largest multi-stream recyclers.
