Alcan shuts down plastic packaging plant (December 02, 2005)

Alcan Inc. is closing its Centralia, Ill. plastic packaging manufacturing facility as part of its to strategy to restructure its Plastics Americas pharmaceutical packaging network.Alcan Packaging Centralia, the unit responsible for plastic packaging for the pharmaceutical and personal care markets, will also close on March 1, 2006. Its operations will be distributed to other Alcan plastics plants in North America.Centralia’s parent company, Alcan Packaging is headquartered in Baie d’Urf, Que., however the firm has no plastics plants in Canada.
