Nylon 6,6 maker Invista Engineering Polymers has added a new 22,000-ton compounding capacity to it manufacturing site in Chattanooga, Tenn.

“We established our business around the idea of bringing solutions to our customers’ global needs through a robust, yet simplified reinforced polyamide product portfolio – and the addition of this latest and greatest compounding technology is our most recent proof point,” said Richard Hill, Invista’s global commercial director.

By building the compounding asset in North America, Invista now manufactures product to specification for multiple regions of the world, Hill continued, which helps meet multi-region OEM and automotive suppliers’ needs.

The North American compounding asset is the second compounding investment by Wichita, Kan.-based Invista. In December 2012, the company announced the acquisition of VSL Born B.V., a compounding and recycling manufacturing in Born, the Netherlands.
