Chemical giant Dow Chemical Company has made a series of executive leadership appointments, some of which will impact its plastics packaging and specialty plastics businesses.

Chemical giant Dow Chemical Company has made a series of executive leadership appointments, some of which will impact its plastics packaging and specialty plastics businesses.

 

The Midland, Mich.-based company has appointed James Fitterling as vice chairman, business operations, with executive oversight of Dow’s packaging and specialty plastics business, elastomers, electrical & telecommunications, polyurethanes, epoxy, specialty chemicals, chemicals, hydrocarbons, and energy.

Joe Harlan has been named chief commercial officer and vice chairman, market businesses, with executive oversight for automotive systems, coating materials, and performance monomers.

 

And Howard Ungerleider has been named chief financial officer.

 

Transitions will begin immediately and the effective date for the change in roles is October 1, 2014, Dow said.

 

Dow also announced that William H. (Bill) Weideman, executive vice president and chief financial officer; and David E. Kepler, executive vice president, chief sustainability officer and chief information officer, will retire at the end of the year.
