In a move designed to strengthen its supply base for global platforms, Tier One auto parts supplier ABC Group has signed a joint venture agreement with Ningbo Inoac Huaxiang Automobile Products (IHX) of China to form Ningbo ABC Inoac Huaxiang (AIH), based in Ningbo City, China.

According to a statement from Toronto-based ABC Group, the joint venture is intended to strengthen market share for both companies, “as it further extends [the] ability to supply customers on a global basis, as well as supporting growth in the Chinese automotive market.”

“Global platforms have increasingly become the standard for the automotive industry,” said Mark Poynton, the company’s co-managing director. “As ABC Group continues to grow, it will continue to expand its capacity to ensure our customers’ global platform requirements are met.”

The customer base at the AIH joint venture facility will include Volkswagen, Toyota, Nissan and Daimler, with short-term plans to introduce North America’s Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM’s). According to ABC group, it plans to add products lines in interior, exterior and engine support to the joint venture facility.
